A good friend sent me a lead on this 350X engine that happened to be in my area. How I missed it I’ll never figure out.
So there it is in all of it’s 350cc 4 valve glory. Unfortunately it’s a smoker. So top end rebuild time! Woo!
First I thought about getting really nuts with it. There’s a 500cc Big Bore kit out there that would put it around 60hp. But.. I’m trying to stay realistic and that power would be unusable in a stock trike chassis. I’d need major frame gusseting and at least a 5" extended swing arm.
Instead I’m going with a 12.5:1 piston, oversized valves and some light port and polish work. I should be able to squeeze out close to 40hp with the right cam. (stock is ~30hp)
The Raptor is sold and is going Bye-Bye tomorrow and all other projects/purchases are on hold. I’m laser focused on having this thing together by June 25-26 for Trikefest 2016.
Yes there is a Trikefest and yes it’s a huge gathering of 3 wheeler nuts like myself.
(EDIT: I do have doubts on the HP claims. They are Internet numbers which means someone used a butt dyno or bench raced their way up there.)

I’m not very fluent in the world of small engines, but a 33% bump in power sounds QUITE nice.

I have my doubts about the claims made and I should add that in up there. I may be the first to try dynoing this combo.

I really want to make it to Trikefest sometime soon. Unfortunately vacation time is a little short but hopefully I can make it within the next couple years.

What ever happened with the raptor motor, did you rebuild it that fast or are you just reselling it as is?

I just sold it for a small profit. I can make more in less time on the trikes and I really want this 350 running qiuck!

Makes sense, but that’s not right! You aren’t going to shoe horn that 660 powertrain in a trike?

No. That’s all gone. The trike is getting a 445cc big bore kit.
